TRAVEL FOR PLEASURE

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Travel is a wonderful way of broadening interests even if the trip means going to a nearby city or dairy farm. When children are in their late teens and can be safely be left on their own for a few days - with some neighbourly supervision - a husband and wife can enjoy going to places of special interest to them rather than having to take younger tastes into account.

The destination needn't be another continent to provide fascinating new sights and information. people who live in Chicago will find the small seacoast villages of New England a totally new world. Bostonians will find a way of life strange to them if they drive through Smoky mountains; people who live in a small town or a farm can get a big lift out of wandering about in a big city.

In traveling abroad, the more advance planing that is invested in the trip , the greater the rewards. Every effort should be made to learn at least a little of the language of the country to be visited, and instead of settling for a group tour in which each moment is planned, there's much pleasure to be gained from exploring a particular enthusiasm, whether it be food, architecture, history or a return to the village of one's foreign born ancestor.
